Cricketers and their twin careers!


Whether its about enthralling their fans with toe-crushing Yorkers, hitting towering sixes or bamboozling batsmen with doosras, we all know that cricketers are the hottest commodity around and brands try to cash in on their popularity and develop different partnership. Players earn big through these commercial contracts but apart from these lucrative deals, they are also venturing into the world of Fashion & Glamour and some of these cricketers have launched their own apparel brands.

The latest in this list is our very own Saeed Ajmal, a former Pakistani Test cricketer and Sitara-e-Imtiaz recipient, is all set to launch his apparel brand on Sunday 27th, May 2018. At roundup, we wish him all the best and hope that, just like his illustrious cricketing career, he will do well in this spell as well.

There have been other cricketers who have ventured in the world of fashion and have done well. The mercurial Shahid afridi launched a traditional men’s wear brand under his own name and is now available in all major cities of Pakistan.

Tendulkar, in 2016 launched his premium menswear and accessories line – True Blue, in association with Arvind Fashion Brands. Another cricketer who ventured in the world of fashion with a purpose is Yuvraj Singh. The flamboyant striker launched his brand YWC Fashion and has declared that all the profits from the clothing line would be used to provide treatments for cancer patients through his NGO, YouWeCan.

India’s captain and an elegant right-handed batsman, Virat Kohli has taken the fashion business to new heights. He launched his menswear brand WROGN in 2014. The brand offers a collection of T-shirts, Trousers, Jeans, sweatshirts and Joggers.

Former Indian captain, Dhoni, known for his Helicopter shot also joined

the fashion industry in 2014 and launched a lifestyle brand by the name of “seven”. The brand manufactures and markets casual and sportswear clothing and footwear.

Harbhajan, The Turbanator also owns a cricket gear, apparel & lifestyle brand ‘Bhajji’ which is very popular amongst his fans, sportsperson and fitness lovers all over.

The brand as part of its international expansion plans has opened the first Bhajji store in Canada.

West Indian cricketer Dwayne Bravo, popularly known as DJ Bravo, also launched his official merchandise under the brand ‘DJ Bravo 47’ and is bring the brand to India with 3 Big Dogs, a celebrity apparel company based in Singapore.

All these cricketers apart from being good at their game are smart businessmen also. They have leveraged their overall goodwill and popularity and built an empire for themselves worth millions of dollars – a textbook shot indeed!
